peppermint essential oil, benefits and uses of peppermint essential oil

For many, thoughts of peppermint are reserved for the holidays or as a chewing gum flavor. Peppermint Essential Oil is a tad more powerful, with strong medicinal, therapeutic, and herbal properties.  Not just for winter or holiday use, peppermint oil can be enjoyed anytime of the year for a wide variety of applications.

peppermint essential oil, benefits and uses of peppermint essential oil

Our peppermint essential oil is pure, therapeutic-grade, steam-distilled oil from the menta piperita plant and has been found to have anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, invigorating, cooling, and stimulating qualities.

A little bit of this powerful oil goes a long way to relieve what ails you. Its fresh & uplifting scent can also help reduce nausea just by smelling it- no apply necessary!

Uses for Peppermint Essential Oil:
  • Headache and Migraine Relief:  Combine with a carrier such as Magnesium Lotion and apply topically to the temples, above the ears, and the back of the neck. You’ll also find peppermint oil in our Renew Blend, which is our fan favorite headache & muscle tension relieving blend.
  • Asthma and Sinus Relief:  Combine with a carrier such as Skin Relief Lotion and apply topically to the chest and back or bottoms of the feet.
  • Digestive Discomfort:  Peppermint is amazing at soothing the digestion.  If you have access to fresh peppermint leaves, chew on fresh leaves to support healthy digestion.  In the case of discomfort, use Peppermint Magnesium Lotion and apply topically over the abdomen.  Peppermint has been used for centuries to soothe digestive difficulties, freshen breath, and relieve colic, gas, heartburn, and indigestion. Simply open the dropper bottle and wave below your nose to breathe in its beneficial properties. This is a proven way to reduce nausea and motion sickness, too!
  • Alertness:  Inhale or diffuse JE Peppermint Essential Oil first thing in the morning to facilitate alertness and repeat as necessary throughout the day. A word of caution – peppermint is a strong oil that can overpower other oils. A little goes a really, really long way in a diffuser! The old saying is true – less really is more!
  • Reduce Fevers and Hot Flashes:  Peppermint contains cooling properties that support the body naturally.  Combine JE Peppermint Essential Oil with a carrier such as Magnesium Spray or Toner Mist and spritz the back of the neck, spine, or bottoms of the feet. For added relief, keep the mixture in the refrigerator for a refreshing blast of icy peppermint!
  • Cravings:  Inhale the aroma of peppermint to reduce the feelings of severe cravings throughout the day. This benefit reminds me of never drinking orange juice after brushing your teeth – even if you wanted to drink it, you couldn’t! LOL!!

There are several Jordan Essentials products that feature peppermint essential oil. Selecting a product that is already infused with essential oils takes the guess work out of measuring, mixing and making sure you get it right! Products already infused Peppermint Essential Oil include Peppermint Magnesium Lotion, Renew Blend products, Peppermint Magnesium Dead Sea Salts and several of our popular essential oil blends, including Energy and Allergy. These are some of my favorite products, and my family has fallen in love with them too. There is something about Peppermint that we all love!
