5 Ways to Have a Stress Free Summer

  1. Plan Relaxing Activities – be sure to incorporate slow activities in with your summer adventures! That can look like reading, hiking or going to the beach for a day of fun in the sun. Create a summer schedule to balance out excitement and relaxation.
  2. Stay Hydrated & Eat Well – keeping your body hydrated along with a balanced diet will dramatically help your energy levels and mood. If you can keep your energy up, your mood will follow and stress will melt away!
  3. Limit Screen Time – take a break from your screens! Stepping away from social media and work emails can help you unwind and fully enjoy every summer adventure.
  4. Practice Mindfulness & Meditation – Wait… what? What’s mindfulness? It’s fully thinking about and letting yourself be absorbed in every activity you do. Sitting down for lunch? As you eat, notice how the food tastes. What you like about it. What memories it brings up. Every activity we do can have a mindful moment. If you’re into it, you can find some meditation sequences on Pinterest or Youtube. Meditation is sitting quietly while an audio plays that encourages mindful moments.   5. Set Realistic Expectations – Don’t put too much on your schedule! I’m guilty of that, especially in the Summer. I try to jam a LOT of things in before school starts again in the fall. Prioritize activities that truly matter to you and your family and allow yourself downtime to recharge. You might not get to your whole bucket list, but you can still have an amazing summer and not be exhausted by it.

Relax & Unwind

There’s nothing like a good book, entertaining magazine or great movie to watch. You’re allowed to put down your phones and dive into whatever entertainment you like best!

Bonus points for swinging in a hammock or enjoying your book/magazine/e-reader on the beach. There’s no hard rules, just keep the phones away and RELAX!! That’s what a stress free Summer is all about.
