Summer trips should feel like freedom - not frantic. As a Registered Nurse and wellness coach, I’ve seen how a simple travel wellness plan can help women stay calm and energized on the go. Whether you’re prepping for a beach trip, a family reunion, or a long weekend getaway, the secret to less stress is this: pack light, live light.

Here are five realistic travel wellness tips to help you feel your best—wherever the road takes you.

1. Stick to a Simple Travel Wellness Routine

When you’re away from home, your routines get tossed aside. But your wellness habits don’t have to disappear completely. Choose one small habit you can do daily: stretching, a gratitude journal, or lemon water in the morning. These mini rituals anchor you, no matter where you are, and are the heart of a solid travel wellness routine.

When we travel, I make sure to get up early (before my family!) and enjoy a quiet cup of coffee by myself before the day begins. It sounds simple enough, but it makes a huge difference in my attitude for the whole day!

  • Travel-sized notebook or journal – those who don’t journal, this may sound silly – but you might want to jot down some memories! Make a list for when you get home. Write down things you don’t want to forget after you unpack your suitcase. It can be used for all sorts of things!

4. Set Boundaries to Protect Your Energy

Even fun trips can be draining when you’re constantly “on.” Healthy travel habits include rest, not just plans. If you’re traveling with family or friends, build in quiet time - even 10 minutes alone to reset.

When we travel as a family, we try to plan one day of adventure then one day of rest at the pool or the beach. It keeps everyone’s needed amount of rest in mind, and no one is upset with a day of swimming, relaxing by the pool or playing in the sand. Traveling with 3 kids over the years teaches you a few MAJOR tips in keeping your sanity. This is one of them – and don’t let anyone change your mind! You don’t need permission to protect your peace.

5. Wind Down with a Grounding Routine

Struggle to sleep away from home? I traveled with a friend who could not sleep without a box fan. Thankfully we drove to our destination because a big box fan rode in on the luggage cart! It still makes me laugh to think of that fan teetering on top of our luggage.

Even if you don’t need to travel with a box fan, a calming wind-down routine helps you get the rest your body needs.
😴 Before bed, roll your magnesium stick on your feet, neck, or lower back.
📖 Write down one thing you enjoyed that day.
🎧 Try a 5-minute meditation or white noise track.
