Do you have a Holiday Wellness Checklist?

If not, you should – and we’re here to help you create your own Holiday Wellness Checklist!

Holidays are a time of joy, celebration, family gatherings, and delightful aromas. With the busy schedules, less sunshine, shorter days, and colder temperatures however, the immune system can become stressed, leading to unwanted illness.

Don’t let the craziness of the holidays slow you down this season!

Holiday Wellness Checklist

Here are our top tips for keeping yourself and your family well all season long.

  1. Nutrition – Nutrition is the foundation for health. The immune system performs so much better with good nutrition, particularly in the form of a variety of colors and amounts of fruits and vegetables. Increasing colorful plant foods also increases antioxidants, like vitamins C and A. When the immune system faces a threat it can use much more vitamin C than during times when we are well. Getting sufficient vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin D are especially important during times when the immune system is working harder. The best way to do this is through a variety of healthy foods like fresh fruits and vegetables.
  2. Use Topical Magnesium – Intestinal health is closely linked with immune health. Medical research now states that about ⅔ of the immune system is in or around the gut. Magnesium and zinc are two important minerals needed for skin, gut, and immune health. Magnesium can be found in foods like nuts, green leafy vegetables, legumes, avocados and bananas. Getting sufficient magnesium through our meals can be challenging sometimes, however. Therefore adding a topical magnesium like JE Magnesium Lotion, JE Magnesium Spray, or JE Magnesium Stick may help the body absorb the magnesium needed for healthy immune function.
  3. Wash Hands Often – From the time we are toddlers we learn the importance of washing hands to avoid potentially harmful germs that can make us sick. This is especially important during the holiday season when we are exposed to more public places full of people where we may touch more things that may not be clean. Washing our hands is one of the most important preventative measures we can take. To make it easier to keep your hands clean, place a Jordan Essentials Foaming Hand Wash at every sink. This holiday season, Jordan Essentials has several exclusive holiday scents available in our Holiday Gift Catalog! When out and about, carry Jordan Essentials Resistance Spray and/or Jordan Essentials Hand Sanitizer to cleanse and purify your hands even when you can’t easily wash with soap.
  4. Get Enough Sleep – Insufficient sleep can suppress the immune system. Most adults need at least 8 hours of quality sleep every night, and kids need even more. When our immune system is compromised and working harder, rest becomes even more important. JE Magnesium Lotion on the feet before bed, JE Sleep Essential Oil Blend, and JE Lavender Essential Oil can possibly help with relaxing the body so you can get a good night’s rest.
  5. Relax and Reduce Stress – When we are stressed, our bodies can produce a hormone called cortisol which is also an immunosuppressant (reduces the immune system). For some, the holidays can create more stress with the hussle and bussle of the shopping, cooking, cleaning, events, and family drama that can come with the season. Make a point to relax, breathe deeply, laugh, and take time for yourself. We hope this Holiday Wellness Checklist will help you relax, reduce stress and enjoy the holiday season. We also recommend that you oak in the bath with Jordan Essentials Magnesium Dead Sea Salt Soak, indulge with Jordan Essentials Peace Essential Oil Blend Roll-On or Spray, and enjoy the aroma of Jordan Essentials Lavender & Eucalyptus.
  6. Exercise – There’s no denying that exercise is good for the body, and the immune system benefits from regular exercise as well. Exercise helps regulate blood sugar, lowers cortisol levels, encourages healthy circulation, supports restful sleep, stimulates oxygen in the blood, and strengthens the immune system. Most specialists recommend at least three days a week of 20 minutes or more of activity which can include walking, running, weight training, aerobics, etc. Find an activity that you enjoy and stick with it. Why wait until January for the new year’s resolutions to start a healthy exercise program? Start the habit now and support your immune system through the holidays.
  7. Use JE Resistance Essential Oil Blend – Jordan Essentials Resistance Essential Oil Blend was specially formulated according to an ancient legend and recipe to ward off the plague. The powerful combination of Cinnamon, Clove, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, and Lemon work synergistically to purify, deodorize, and cleanse. The spicy aroma of this blend is perfect to get you in the mood for the holidays, and this holiday season Jordan Essentials offers many holiday exclusives of this blend for versatile applications to help keep you healthy throughout the holidays. Give your immune system a rocket boost with Resistance Essential Oil Blend. As this blend contains warming essential oils, Jordan Essentials recommends using Resistance on children over the age of 3.

Follow these simple tips to support a healthy immune system and have a happy, healthy, and enjoyable holiday season, making memories that will last a lifetime.
